Imagine living in the center of Aarhus and able to enjoy city life, silence at home, parking and Hygge from 1827.
Behind the gates of Mejlgade 43, is cozy courtyard filled with old cobblestones and is historically protected. The yellow “townhouse” is four levels, of which 89 m2 is located on the ground and first floor. There is an additional 55 m2 of usable space in the cellar and loft. The house, with exposed beams, thick stone walls and high ceiling, provides a unique peaceful oasis in the center of the city.
The entrance of the house takes you through the original old door, a small hallway and extra draft door straight into the kitchen/family room. It gives you a feeling of 1800 because the details are original, even the old protected windows overlooking the courtyard.
This level is open plan with a new wooden floor, wood burning fireplace and a recently placed kitchen with the same floor to open up the room. This white kitchen is equipped with most modern equipment like a refrigerator, oven, electric cooking and a dishwasher.
From here you can enter the basement by the same wooden stairs which are tailor-made throughout the whole house. The basement is a very cool place to be a with door and small windows as well as a separate closed area which is the perfect place to keep your precious wines.
Entering the 1st floor there is a large landing (which could be used for office or TV room) and bedroom with the same wooden floors, plastering and windows. The old beams are still visible in all rooms, including the simple bathroom on the first floor, containing wooden walls, the toilet, a sink with closets and mirror and a corner shower.
Going up to the 2nd level is a high-ceiling loft of about 30 m2, with a lot of opportunities. Plenty of storage and, again, the original old windows and shutters. It is a perfect rest place for people who like the top floor.
The whole house has central heating and double glazing to make it warm and cozy. It also has an outside shed. The private enclosed courtyard is only available for the people who have access to Meijlgade 43.
There is a free parking place included and it is walking distance to Arhus restaurants, shops and nightlife. It is located steps from the old harbor which is currently being renovated.
